New England Biolabs is a recognized world leader in discovery, development and commercialization of recombinant and native enzymes for genomic research. When they needed assistance with their specialized real estate requirements, they turned to The Chiofaro Company.

The 126-acre “Great Estates” site, adjacent to State Route 1A, is surrounded by acres of pristine conservation land and contains several historic buildings, including a mansion of approximately 30,000 square feet. This project involved the development and integration of a sophisticated new 160,000-square-foot, molecular biology laboratory/headquarters building containing 250 underground parking spaces, and the renovation of the mansion and other historic buildings built between 1895 and 1914-all on an architecturally and environmentally sensitive site. The Chiofaro Company provided development and project management services to New England Biolabs.

Additionally, The Chiofaro Company provided strategic real estate consultation to New England Biolabs regarding the financing of its new facilities and the re-use / disposition of its existing facility in Beverly, MA.
